Bolt EV performance on 50 kW DC Fast Chargers
Now that the Bolt EV is available in Canada, we can see how it performs on 50 kW DC fast chargers.
Here are three different results from RoulezElectrique.com, Elmec and Innovative Vehicle Institute. The results are included in this article.
According to these results, we can see that the Bolt EV decreases the power by levels instead of gradually (such as LEAF or Tesla). The highest power was just under 46 kW. The highest amperage was 122.8 until the SOC is at 51%. The amperage then drops to about 101 A until the SOC is at 67% before it drops again.
This means that charging on a 50 kW DC Fast Charger is the most effective until the SOC is at 67 %. Bolt EV owners : keep this in mind when you pay hourly for the DC Fast Chargers.
We need results from a 100 kW DC Fast Charger.
Is Bolt EV able to accept more than 125 amps ?
Will the Bolt EV perform better on a 100 kW DC Fast Charger ? If so, how ?
Will GM send an update in order to change the way the batteries recharge ?
