Ontario EV owners : your help is needed to make eligible EVs sold by September 10 2018
As you know, the new Ontario government decided to ”scrap” the Cap and Trade joint program with Québec and California.
On July 11 2018, the same government ended the Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle and Charging Incentive Programs. Potential EV owners are disappointed as they were waiting for automobile manufacturers to deliver their electric vehicles.
Dealerships and EV owners are eligible to claim the last incentives on electric vehicles by September 10 2018 as explained on Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation’s EVIP website.
Applications will be accepted from dealerships, car owners or prospective car owners only if one of the following conditions has been met:
-
Eligible vehicles that have been delivered to consumers, registered, and plated on or before July 11 will receive the incentive.
-
Inventory that dealers have on lots or orders made by dealerships with manufacturers on or before July 11, will also be honoured for the incentive provided that the vehicle is delivered to consumers, registered, and plated by September 10.
Ontario’s Ministry of Finance requested that all dealerships in Ontario must provide their list of electric vehicles on their lots and purchase orders sent to manufacturers. Ministry of Finance will only accept claims for electric vehicles on those lists. Therefore, it is not possible to claim an incentive for an EV outside of Ontario.
Where are those dealerships’ lists of eligible electric vehicles ? Potential EV owners want to find an eligible EV before the deadline.
This being said … we need your help to make sure all eligible electric vehicles in Ontario are sold by September 10 2018 !
- We need to find the eligible electric vehicles everywhere in Ontario;
- EV owners are needed to find out from their local dealerships their lists of electric vehicle inventory;
- EV owners can encourage dealerships to share that list on the dealership’s social media such as Facebook and Twitter;
- Dealerships’ Sales Consultants and General Sales Managers are welcome to post their eligible EV inventories on various Facebook groups such as :
Electric Vehicle Community of Ottawa-Gatineau
Volkswagen e-Golf Owners – Canada
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Owners – Canada
Toyota Prius Prime Owners – Canada

How certain are you that car must be purchased in Ontario? Nothing here, but then again… http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/vehicles/electric/electric-vehicle-incentive-program.shtml
I pulled the following from MTO EVIP guide. Noticed it says vehicle AND applicant must on ministry approved order list. How would applicant be on ministry list for dealer orders before July 11?
Vehicles ordered on or prior to July 11, 2018 or were on an Ontario franchised dealers Ontario lot are eligible for an
incentive provided that:
• are delivered, registered and plated by September 10, 2018;
• the application is submitted within 90 days of the vehicle registration and plating date;
• the vehicle and the applicant are on the approved Ministry order list;
