Bolt EV software version 14.4.2
Since February 2017, I enjoy driving my Bolt EV.
One feature that is missing is GM’s over-the-air updates. My Bolt EV’s VIN indicates it was built before February 6, 2017. At the time, the software version was 13.4.0. Last April, I had it updated to version 14.1.0. I was disappointed at the time because Android Auto was still showing two black zones besides the map display on the central screen. I never used Android Auto map because it was terrible.
Brian Ro, my colleague administrator on Facebook’s Real Chevy Bolt EV owners and fans, published on November 28 that the software version 14.4.2 was now available. He found this information on the Chevy Bolt EV forum. A few days later, he informed us that GM’s Service Bulletin # 17-NA-071 would solve the Android Auto issue.
This morning, I was at Myers Orléans Chev-Buick-GMC dealership. I requested that they check for a software update to bring it up to version 14.4.2 – bulletin # 17NA071. According to the service bulletin, it should take 0.6 hours.
A few minutes later, my Cajun Red Bolt EV was at the mechanic’s bay. He quickly found the bulletin service on GM’s website, which is the same website for USA and Canada. He downloaded the software update on a USB stick for about 8 minutes. He then uploaded the software from the USB stock to the Bolt for about 12 minutes.
Bolt EV automatically did a ”reboot”. That’s it. It worked. I now have software version 14.4.2. Android Auto is fixed ! And other issues also …
To this day, GM has not yet activated the Over-the-air updates. Why ?
