Get Connected Day: an electrifying event on April 18th, 2014
A gathering of electric vehicles – for a Guinness Record
Montreal, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 – During this year’s Get Connected Day, a new Guinness Record may well be established for the largest gathering of electric vehicles in the world. For this 2nd edition of the Get Connected Day, the organizers invite electric vehicles owners from Québec and elsewhere to a rally on Friday, April 18th to establish a new world record, by beating the previous mark registered in 2013 in Zurich (Switzerland) with 305 electric vehicles. Eligible vehicles include all plug-in models.
Get Connected Day is an initiative of the CNTA (National Advanced Transportation Center) and is supported this year by Hydro -Québec, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MRN) and other partners. With this event, the CNTA aims to offer the public the opportunity to meet with electric vehicles owners and experts. The Get Connected Day is an event as much for enthusiasts as for people just curious to know a little more. This is a unique chance to meet and discuss with owners willing to share their experience.
Electric car owners wishing to participate in the gathering in an attempt to beat the record are invited to register at www.branchezvous.org. Organizers hope to succeed in bringing together 350 to 500 electric vehicles to establish a solid record and eloquently demonstrate that Quebecers love clean vehicles. The rally will take place on the P8 parking of L’Île Sainte- Hélène (La Ronde) from 4 pm on Friday, April 18th, 2014 (free access for EVs). Counting of the vehicles will begin at 6 pm.
“This is a first in Canada; Quebec will once again stand out in the wake of clean transportation. We will seek to establish a world record and we may try to beat the record every year. Quebecers care about the environment. Driving a plug-in vehicle is a good signal to send to the planet. With this gathering, Quebec will be a World Champion for a while!” says Sylvain Castonguay, Executive Director of the CNTA.
“The electrification of transportation in Quebec is now underway, and this gathering will be an opportunity to demonstrate that it is not a simple fringe movement but a change in perception about transportation in Quebec” adds Jacques Duval, spokesperson for the 2014 Get Connected Day.
